--General--
Keyboard Localizer lets you remap the keys on your Palm Portable Keyboard.
With Keyboard Localizer you can easily create your own individual layout, just the way you want it.
If you are used to any other keyboard layout than the US-standard layout, i.e. Swedish, French,
Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Canadian, Brazilian , Dvorak, ... and so on, then Keyboard Localizer is for you.
Keyboard Localizer is tested together with the Palm Portable Keyboard and the 1.1 version of
the original driver. The 1.2 version is slightly different than the 1.1 version and for full
functionality of Keyboard Localizer you should use the 1.1 version of the original driver.
To use Keyboard Localizer you will need HackMaster installed on your Palm .
HackMaster is a great shareware software created by Edward Keyes and can be downloaded
from www.palmgear.com or www.daggerware.com .

--User Instructions--
To remap a key on your Palm Portable Keyboard:
1 Launch HackMaster and tap on the + button next to "Keyboard Localizer".
2 Tap on the key you want to remap with the stylus.
3 Tap on the popup trigger next to "Normal" to change the character that should be typed by pressing that key only, and tap on the popup trigger next to "Shift", "Ctrl" or "CtrlShift" to change the character typed together with the Shift and Ctrl moderator keys.
4 Navigate in the popup list with the Up and Down hardware buttons.
5 Select the new character in the popup list and tap on the OK button when finished.
6 Done
In the onscreen Keyboard the changes made will be visible. To see the shifted layout select
either of the shift-keys.
To see the CtrlShift layout select the Ctrl-key and any of the shift-keys. To see the Ctrl-layout select the Ctrl-key only.
To reset one key, tap on that key and choose "Reset Key" from the Options menu.
All the keys can not be changed.
The keys that are not changeable are: Backspace, Enter, Tab, CAPS LOCK, Shift, Ctrl, Alt , Cmd, Fn,
Space x 2 , Done, Del and the arrow keys. I might change this in a later version.
The Tab-key however can be changed to do a normal tabulation instead of "GotoNextField" by selecting "Switch Tab" in the Preferences.
If you want to temporarily deactivate the effect of Keyboard Localizer you can do this by holding in both the Ctrl-key and the Fn-key and then pressing the Spacebar. Press the same keys to activate it again.
In the Options Menu, select "New Layout" to create a new keyboard layout.
Select "Save As" to create a new layout based on the currently loaded layout.
Select "Load Layout" to choose from the different layouts you have created or downloaded into your Palm .
When performing a HotSync on your Palm the layouts you have created for Keyboard Localizer will be backed up in your backup folder.
To type accented characters by first typing the accent and then the character, select "Preferences" from the Options Menu and select "Accents enabled".
Then choose which of the accents, Umlaut (¨), Grave (`), Acute (´), Circumflex (^) and Tilde (~) you want to activate, by selecting them.
If you have selected "Accents enabled" and for example "Tilde", typing a (~) and then an (o) will
produce the (õ) character.
To see all the characters that can be typed this way look in the "Accents.htm" file.
